IT STARTED WITH A LITTLE COMPETITION
REWIND THE CLOCK TO DECEMBER 2017. WALK INTO THE FLOUR-DUSTED KITCHENS OF VIRTUOUS PIE, A PLANT-BASED PIZZA AND ICE CREAM COMPANY FOUNDED ON THE RAINY WEST COAST OF CANADA. WHAT YOU’D SEE IS A TIGHT-KNIT TEAM OF FOODIES MIDWAY THROUGH AN INTENSE DEBATE OVER WHICH OF THEM COULD CREATE THE BEST PLANT-BASED BURGER. THE COMPETITION HAD BEGUN.
BY THE TIME THE FLOUR SETTLED IN FEBRUARY 2018, ONE BURGER HAD RISEN TO THE TOP, AND THE SEED OF TMRW FOODS HAD BEEN PLANTED: A COMPANY THAT WOULD DEVOTE ITSELF TO TAPPING THE FULL FLAVOR POTENTIAL OF PLANT PROTEIN. MORE IMAGINATIVE. MORE INVENTIVE. MORE CREATIVE.
IN THE YEARS SINCE THEN, WE’VE OPENED A 5,000 SQ-FT PRODUCTION FACILITY IN PORT COQUITLAM, BRITISH COLUMBIA, CREATED A WIDE RANGE OF PLANT PROTEIN FLAVORS AND FORMATS, AND WE’VE ONLY JUST BEGUN.
